Queens: A Year-Round Guide to Navigating Menstruation in good health.

Good Day my fellow gender. Today’s discussion is dedicated to us. I know it’s another 12 long months. Another 12 months of emotions. I am here to give you tips that will help you scale through these 12 months especially during those special days.

  • Reduce your sugar intake totally. Some of us have very painful cramps because of high consumption of sugar.
  • Remember you are losing blood during these days so drink more water. Replace carbonated drinks with water. STAY HYDRATED QUEENS!!
  • In these few days, you are more prone to infection so, eat more fruits; pineapple, banana, orange, pawpaw, carrot. You don’t have to eat the expensive ones. Eat what you can afford (here’s an hack; the fruits in season are more affordable )

  • Take your bath at least two times in a day (in the morning and night). The blood flowing out of the body during this period comes with a bad odor especially if you don’t maintain your personal hygiene. Use deodorants. There are very affordable ones in the market.
  • Change your sanitary pad as often as possible especially if you are the type with an heavy flow. Make sure you wash your hands with soap and water after this. Remember to dispose used sanitary pads properly (this is a topic for another day).

  • Wear comfortable clothes. Your body is under stress already don’t add to it by wearing clothes that are very tight and not comfortable.
  • Eat healthy and rest well. Avoid junks. If possible, take blood supplements.
  • If you are the type that experiences very painful pre and menstrual cramp, warm (not hot please) water and pour in a plastic bottle. Wrap in a cloth if it’s still hot and place between your navel and upper part of your pubic area. It works like magic. If it doesn’t work, you can resolve to taking analgesics like paracetamol, felvin and maybe buscopan depending on what works for you.
  • Lastly, engage in light exercises like walking your dog, brisk walking, yoga.

I hope these helps. I will be very glad to read from you. Kindly drop any measure that has helped in the comment section.
Thank you.
