Ondo Govt Orders Irele, Ese-Odo Communities To End Boundary Disputes

by Ayomide Ayodele

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami has again emphasized the government’s intolerance for restiveness and violence.

This is in reaction to the dispute involving Ode-Irele in Irele Local Government and Igbobini in Ese-Odo Local Government, both located in the southern senatorial district of Ondo State. Following a mediation meeting in Akure on Friday convened at the governor’s behest, Adelami urged the warring communities to cease hostilities and prioritize peace for meaningful development.

He emphasized the existential threat communal crises pose to societal peace and growth, urging an immediate end to the dispute.

Adelami instructed security agencies to release confiscated belongings as an initial step toward resolving the issue. The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention and pledged the police’s commitment to restoring peace, while leaders from both communities agreed to collaborate for a peaceful resolution.

Key stakeholders present included members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Divisional Police Officers from the affected areas.
