Southwest Speakers Pledge to Work Together to Benefit Electorate

In order to promote impactful lawmaking and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi, received a delegation of his counterparts from Oyo and Osun States at his office in Alagbaka, Akure.

The Speakers met today to discuss ways to improve lawmaking in the Southwest region. They agreed to share ideas and policies and to work together to advance the autonomy of the judiciary and legislature. They also expressed optimism that their cooperation would benefit the electorate.

The meeting was led by Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly. He said that the Southwest is the “knowledge database of Nigeria,” and that the Speakers need to work together to ensure that the region is well-represented in the national legislature.

Rt. Honourable Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, welcomed the other Speakers to his office and said that he was optimistic that their cooperation would “provide an avenue for knowledge sharing and the people will be better for it.”
