Ondo Assembly Joins Forces with Federal Fire Service For Effective Service Delivery

In a bid to ensure swift and effective service delivery in Ondo State, the Ondo State House of Assembly has announced plans to collaborate closely with the Federal Fire Service, Ondo State command.

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in safeguarding the people against fire disasters and their associated implications during a courtesy call to the Speaker’s office in Alagbaka, Akure.

The Speaker acknowledged the pivotal role played by the fire service in combating various disasters, including fires and floods. “We need your wealth of experience in addressing flooding, which has become a major environmental concern during this season,” stated the Speaker.

The recent incident involving the inferno that gutted two ambulances at the Ondo State Emergency Medical Service Agency (ODEMSA) and the Ondo East Local Government Secretariat, Bolorunduro, was met with disappointment by the Speaker. He urged the State Commandant of the Federal Fire Service to take a proactive approach in their service delivery and ensure adequate security at their facilities.

The Speaker also highlighted the importance of the Federal Fire Service considering Ondo State youth for recruitment opportunities.

Adding to the discussion, Hon. Olawumi Fayemi Obayelu, the lawmaker representing Ilaje constituency 2, stressed the necessity for the Federal Fire Service to conduct thorough sensitization campaigns, educating the public on how to promptly contact the agency in times of emergency.

In response, the State Commandant of the Federal Fire Service, Mr. Olu James, conveyed his congratulations to the Speaker on his recent election to the esteemed position. He assured the Ondo State House of Assembly of his commitment to collaborate closely, with the aim of providing efficient and effective service delivery to the people.
