Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the Ekiti State Governor has approved the payment of #200 Million to retired civil servant in the state.
This information was disclosed by Mr Francis Omotoso, the Permanent Secretary, Pension Transition Arrangement Department in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.
Omotoso explained that the amount would cover payment of gratuities of state government pensioners up to July 2015.
He said, “The approval is another significant step towards offsetting the backlog of outstanding gratuities and other entitlements of retirees owed by previous administrations in line with the continuity and shared prosperity agenda of the Oyebanji administration. ”
The permanent secretary emphasized the deep-rooted commitment of the governor to the welfare for workers and retirees in the state.
He therefore called on the affected retirees to the PTAD office for proper documentation, profiling, and adequate preparation for the collection of their cheques.
It would be recalled that the Oyebanji administration has, so far, released fund for the payment of over N7.2bn as gratuities to state retirees in the last 30 months.
