New Year eve is always celebrated with utmost funfair in Ondo city. Those who reside in bigger cities arrived earlier in the day in their numbers and those in villages and amulets, could be seen alighting from buses with their farm goods for the mother of all celebrations.
EkimogunMirror’s team was on ground to capture the interesting moments. The team set out around 10:00pm, our first point of call was the ever busy Brigadier Ademulegun Road and it was not quite busy as most of the occupants of the city were in church.
We visited Adesuper Hotel and the people present were sparsely. We had some shots due to familiarity with the boys present.
After the Adesuper Hotel visit we proceeded to Akure garage where we saw the fruit seller at the roundabout going about his lawful business.
The Akure garage was beehive of activities unlike Ife garage, buy and selling was ongoing and the shops opened for business. The side attraction was set of boys dancing and in jubilant mood for the successful completion of the year.
At 11:30, we got to The Template Bar and Grill; people were already leaving to partake in the cross over service after gulping lot of alcohol. This is done everywhere so don’t slay Ondo Boys. It was about 11: 40 when we left The Template Bar and Grill and it was a fast and furious driving mode, due to the notion of starting the New Year at the church. We arrived at World Changers’ Youth Mega Church, Funbi Fagun at exactly 11:45 (don’t ask me how we attained that distance in 5mins) for the cross over service.
The pastor was on the pulpit dishing out prayer points when we arrived, we partook in the prayer sessions and prayed for a successful year for the EkimogunMirror brand.
After the ceremonial “Happy New Year” greetings where I was sandwiched with friends, excited and exchange pleasantry for the grace to see 2016.
We got back on the road for the explosive coverage of the Odotu, Odojumo, Oke Odunwo axis of the city. People gathered in their numbers in festivity mood but we could not take many pictures due to the hostility of the boys.
Yaba Road was extremely busy at 1:35 as people were returning from their places of worship. The Underground joint opposite Bank of Nigeria Agbooke was filled to capacity.
Polak Hotel and Esporta Hotel had the highest population but due to the outrage which camera flash might invite, we decided to just groove and partake in the fun fair.
We at EkimogunMirror wish you a very successful year.
