Funke Akindele, award-winning actress and filmmaker has paid glowing tribute to her late mum, Dr. Adebanjo Akindele, while sharing a touching message to her on her posthumous birthday via her Instagram handle on Thursday.
Through a post sent alongside a video montage of her mum’s life and time, the actress expressed love, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to honouring her mother’s memory through purposeful living.
“Happy heavenly birthday to my darling mother!” she wrote.
Iya Bunmi, I want you to know that I’m working hard to build a life that makes you proud. I’m prioritising my well-being, just as you advised, and striving to live each day with purpose and joy.”
“Sister, Papa, Mama and I are thriving, and your grandchildren are growing, filled with love and curiosity. They always talk about you and pray for your soul.
“Keep resting in perfect peace, Mum. Your love and legacy will forever be in our hearts,” she wrote.
Dr. Adebanjo Akindele died on February 7, 2023.
