PDP WILL SORT ITSELF OUT, SARAKI REPLIES TINUBU

by Adeyinka Adetan

Bukola Saraki, former Senate President has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s speech with regards to the upheaval within the opposition parties in Nigeria, stating his awareness about the wrangling within the People’s Democratic Party.

While delivery his Democracy day speech to a joint session of the National Assembly, President Tinubu threw a bold jab at opposition parties, expressing happiness at their troubles.

“It is a joy to see the opposition in disarray.

“For me, I will not say, try your best to put your house in order. I will not help you to do so, either,” the President said.

Tinubu dismissed claims that his government is trying hard to create a one-party system through planned defections to the ruling party.

However, Senator Saraki who spoke to journalists after the Democracy day event that came up at the National Assembly noted that the PDP is actually facing internal challenges.

He called on his party and other opposition groups to focus on self-correction and reorganisation, saying they must “get their houses in order.”

Saraki said, “I think we must take him at his words. I mean, he spoke well, saying that he’s not for a one-party state. So we must take him at his word, and he supports a multi-party. So we are all on the same page.

“That’s why we are going around and bringing everybody to come around. So those who say they are under pressure, there is no pressure anymore. So, we’re all for multi-party, and everybody should get their house in order, as he said, he’s not going to help us, so we are going to sort our own house again.”
