by Bolaji

The Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC) has canvassed support for the candidature of the member representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, Hon. Abiola Makinde as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th National Assembly.

The development came as the executives and stakeholders of the umbrella body of all youth groups and forums in Ondo East and West Local Government jointly cautioned members of the House against electing a deputy speaker or principal officers who may have questions to answer regarding their stewardship in other places.

Engineer Kayode Folajogun, President of the youth group in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Ondo city on Thursday Stated that Hon. Makinde’s performance and vast experience in legislative administration will be effectively brought to bear if elected as a principal officer of the house.

He said, “Historically the House of Representatives was established to be the people’s House and for the people‘s business – this we can testify as evident in the administration of Hon. Abiola Makinde as he had practiced a people-oriented politics of grassroots development with his numerous, life-changing programs, empowerments, and other infrastructural contributions in his constituency”

“The Green Chamber is hallowed ground and its choice of leaders must be one measurable by the loftiest standards, impeccable in character, and devoid of flaws that can haunt its image nationally and internationally.”

“We call on the members of the incoming 10th House of Representatives to stick to a choice without a moral burden or questionable history in the coming Deputy Speakership Election by supporting and electing Hon. Abiola Makinde as his leadership will be of a watershed in the history of the lower chamber and the general National Assembly.” the president stated.
