One of the visiting Professors from Auburn University, Alabama, USA, to Adekunle Ajasin University, Nigeria, Professor Henry Fadamiro, on Wednesday said the University has witnessed tremendous improvement in the areas of capacity building and infrastructural development.
Professor Fadamiro gave the assertion when the team visited AAUA to deliver the University Lecture and to hold a 2-day workshop for academic staff as part of the process of activating the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two institutions in March this year. He said, “I am particularly pleased to be here at AAUA. I had visited this University in 2005; coming back this year, I am highly impressed that AAUA has not only improved on the physical structures, it has also improved tremendously in the area of capacity building. “A University can have beautiful structures in place and yet be deficient in capacity building, which is the core duty of a University. This University has greatly developed on both sides and it is commendable.” Professor Fadamiro, who noted that academics have the best job in the world, charged them to bear a sense of pride in the profession, saying that it affords scholars the privilege to impact the world and leave lasting legacies.
In his remark, the Vice Chancellor of AAUA, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, thanked the team for coming to activate the MOU despite what he called some obvious challenges and “for coming to identify with our University, and to partner with us, especially in building our new Faculty of Agriculture in our bid to make it unique and produce globally-competitive graduates.” The Deputies Vice Chancellor, Professors Oluyemisi Adebowale and Francis Oyebade, both noted that AAUA has a vision of becoming Africa’s best in the next 10 years. They also welcomed the guests and expressed confidence that the partnership would yield good fruits.
Other members of the team from the Auburn University are Professors Curtis Jolly and William Daniels.
