YPP Condemns Ajulo’s Call for Coroner Inquest into Akeredolu’s Death

by Ayomide Ayodele

The Young Progressives Party (YPP), Ondo West Local Government Chapter, has strongly criticized the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Kayode Ajulo, over his recent announcement concerning a coroner’s inquest into the death of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the YPP described Ajulo’s decision to entertain petitions from unnamed individuals or groups calling for the exhumation of Akeredolu’s remains as “insensitive and provocative.”

The party said the move could potentially destabilize the peace currently enjoyed in the state, and accused the Attorney General of leveraging state institutions to settle personal or political scores.

“If the Attorney General or the current administration harbors grievances against the late Governor, such matters should not be pursued through the misuse of state resources,” the statement read.

YPP emphasized that Governor Akeredolu, who died in active service, deserves to be remembered with dignity and honor, not subjected to posthumous controversy.

The party further called on the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to concentrate on policies and reforms that will enhance development across the state, rather than actions it claims are “designed to inflame public sentiment.”
