Armed policemen were deployed ahead of the People’s Democratic Party crucial National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for today. This led to a heightened security presence at the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the party.
According to a party official who craved anonymity, the essence of the police deployment was to stop the proposed Expanded Caucus Meeting from holding.
However, some staff members of the party were allowed to go into the premises of the secretariat without any resistance from the police.
The police also barricaded and cordoned off Dalaba Street which serves as the road leading to the Wadata plaza.
