ODSG signs MoU with BEDC

ONDO SIGNS MOU WITH BEDC
As part of efforts to finally resolve the perennial power outage in the Southern Senatorial District of Ondo State, the government has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), in order to restore light to the affected area.
Signing the memorandum, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Aderotimi Adelola, lauded the people for their patience, while calling on them not to vandalise electrical installations and promptly pay their indebtedness as agreed upon in the memorandum.
The Secretary to the State appealed to the electricity company to expedite action on the agreement, noting that he is optimistic that the development will bring a turn around in the peoples life and their economic status.
He said the power restoration will begin from Odigbo local government, while the agreement and action will immediately proceed to other local governments to ensure improved economic activities among the people and industrialists in the area. Adelola said the people are ready to pay for the electricity they use, while lauding them for continued understanding over time.
Responding, the Chief State Head of BEDC, Ondo/Ekiti, Mr. Ernest Edgar, thanked the people and the government for ensuring a workable solution to the perennial challenge, stressing that the damage and debts were inherited from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
He maintained that the electricity restoration will be done very fast in phases to ensure the people elude darkness, stressing that BEDC will ensure equal distribution of electricity to every part of the state.
The Chief State Head of BEDC, also said the recent shortfall in electricity supply is owing to very low distribution from the the national grid as a result of vandalisation.
Commenting on behalf of the people, the Chairman, Odigbo local government area, Hon.  Ayodele Ikumawoyi, lauded the efforts of the state government at ensuring light is restored in the area. He said the people are happy and very optimistic that the development will rebuild business activities in the area. The team thereafter proceeded to Odigbo local government where the first phase of the light restoration was carried out.
The occasion was witnessed by, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Kola Ademujimi, Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, management staff of Ondo State Electricity Agency and many others.
