TINUBU, GOVERNORS, OTHERS PAY TRIBUTES AS AKEREDOLU IS BURIED IN OWO

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, joined Ondo State Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and other dignitaries at the funeral of former governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu in Owo.

President Tinubu celebrated Akeredolu’s life and contributions, describing the former governor and associate as a highly intelligent individual and a dogged fighter with an enduring legacy.

Governor Aiyedatiwa praised Akeredolu’s commitment to justice, with other governors and prominent figures attending. The Governor described the late former governor as a warrior of integrity whose legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, extending beyond his immediate family to touch the lives of countless others.

The governors at the event included Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, Goodwin Obaseki of Edo, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq of Kwara, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta.

Other attendees included Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, former governors Olusẹgun Mimiko, Kayode Fayemi, and Gbenga Daniel, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Pastor Evelyn Joshua.

The Anglican Bishop of Ikwerre, Rev. Blessing Enyindah, delivered a sermon on the brevity of life, urging reflection on legacy and fulfilling electoral pledges. Bishop Stephen Fagbemi announced plans to immortalize Akeredolu through the Anglican Medical and Diagnostic Center. The late governor was interred at a private cemetery, followed by a reception at Mydas Hotel and Resort, Owo.
