‎THREE (3) SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN OGUN STATE

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in distinct operations conducted in the Mowe and Sagamu areas. During these operations, the police recovered locally manufactured firearms, cartridges, and charms, which are suspected to be associated with cult-related and criminal activities.

‎Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command in an official statement stated that the arrests were carried out between April 14 and 18, 2026, as part of intelligence-led operations and stop-and-search duties executed by divisional units and the Quick Response Squad.

‎The statement points out that an intelligence led operation led to an individual loitering around a bus stop in a manner that raises reasonable suspicion.

‎“On 14th April 2026, at about 1630hrs, operatives of Mowe Division acted on credible intelligence received from a member of the public regarding a suspicious individual loitering around Mowe Bus Stop.

‎Opeyemi Anuoluwapo, a 36-year-old suspect found in possession of a locally made single-barrel pistol, an expended cartridge, and charms was taken into custody.

‎“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

On April 17, 2026, in a distinct operation, officers from the Quick Response Squad successfully intercepted a motorcycle along the Lafarge axis on the Sagamu–Ogijo Road.

‎“Operatives of the Quick Response Squad, while on stop-and-search duty at Lafarge along Sagamu/Ogijo Road, intercepted a Bajaj motorcycle ridden by Asaye Ajibola, 30.

‎According to the statement, a simple search of the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made single-barrel gun loaded with nine cartridges. He was subsequently arrested after he couldn’t explain why he possesses a weapon.

‎“Another QRS team intercepted a Honda motorcycle at the same Lafarge axis along Sagamu/Ogijo Road. The rider, Adedeji Olufemi, 49, was found in possession of a locally made double-barrel gun with eight cartridges.

‎The statement noted that the apprehended suspects have been moved to the the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
