‎POLICE ARREST MAN FOR KILLING COMMUNITY LEADER

Clement Anthony, a 40-year-old man who alleged murder a community leader has been arrested by men of the Bauchi State Police Command while a locally made single-barrel firearm allegedly used in the attack.

‎According to the statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu on Tuesday, the incident was reported at the ‘A’ Division Township Police Station on July 19, 2026, by a 47-year-old resident of Unguwar Ngas in Bauchi Local Government Area.

‎“The complainant stated that on the same date, while at Unguwar Ngas, Inkil, Bauchi, one Clement Anthony, a 40-year-old male of the same address, armed himself with a locally made single-barrel gun and intentionally fired it at Mr Jacob Bature, a 55-year-old male, Mai Anguwan Ngas, also of the same address. The victim sustained serious gunshot injuries to his right ribs and slumped unconscious, leaving him in a coma.

‎“He was immediately rushed to the ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor examined him and confirmed him dead as a result of the gunshot. The corpse has since been deposited in the hospital morgue for further investigation.

‎“Following the incident, police operatives swung into action and arrested the suspect. During the arrest, the locally made single-barrel gun and one empty cartridge were recovered from him.

‎“The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
