Residents of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have appealed to the state governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to intervene and protect them from the activities of hoodlums who have allegedly been terrorising the community.
The residents, under the banner of Ore Concerned Stakeholders, expressed concern over the rising crime rates in the area, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and rape.
They claim the hoodlums have been operating unchecked for some time, instilling fear among the community members.
In a statement issued on Monday by a community member, Mr. Rufus Akindola, the residents revealed the escalating situation. He stated further that all these has been happening in Ore for the four years thereby forcing many business owners to flee from Ore for safety purpose.
The residents also expressed frustration over the lack of progress in legal proceedings against the suspected gang leader.
“Despite being arrested and charged to court at the Ore High Court sitting in Ondo, the suspected gang leader’s case has been constantly adjourned without any hearing on the matter. We are tired of this continuance without any action being taken. As we speak now, he has been released on bail, and we don’t want further misfortune to befall us in Ore, he concluded.
