The Ondo State Integrity Group (OIG) held a public lecture for youths and students at the Adoc Event centre in Ondo City yesterday.

The group’s aim is empower the youths and serve as their mouth piece to agigate good governance. OIG believes the youths should take the front seats when it comes to governance in the state. The group also used the event to endorse Eyitayo Jegede SAN as their preferred candidate for the gubernatorial seat in the forthcoming Ondo election citing his commitment to capacity building and integrity in private and public service for the endorsement.

The guest speaker, Comr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, dwelled on the topic “Investing in Nigeria’s Future Leaders Through Mentorship and Capacity Building”. The lecture was well orchestrated and perfectly rendered by the Law graduate who earmarked the simplicity and intellectual ability of Eyitayo Jegede (SAN). He believes OIG efforts so far has clearly indicated that government has not wasted resources in encouraging popular participation in government by all irrespective of class, status and more importantly in this context, age. In his words “This topic is simply an addendum to the narrative of the verifiable social turnarounds that has taken place in Ondo State in the recent past under the leadership of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and an emphasis on the need to sustain it”.

The event witnessed large turnout of people from within Ondo city as they came to be part of an intellectual based discuss. The Dean of Post-graduate studies (AAUA), Prof. Olugbenga Ige, the chairman of the occasion, while delivering his speech said he was impressed with OIG for coming up with such laudable and innovative platform through which the youths could also have a say in the Political affairs of the State. Prof. Ige further stressed that the OIG would serve as a medium through which the interests of the Ondo state Youths would be represented.

Barrister Eyitayo Jegede SAN commended OIG for the initiative and assured the gathering that he will contest the November 26th election and by God’s grace will win. He implored them not to be distracted by some people who are planted to disrupt the peace in the party but they should keep working for the God’s own project and also urged them to stand by their votes from the polling units to the collation centres.
