‎MONARCH NABBED WITH AK-47 RIFFLE IN AKWA-IBOM

Chief Edet, the village head of Asik Ubofa, a fishing settlement in Effiat Clan, Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state has been arrested by men of Akwa Ibom state command of the Nigerian Police Force.

‎DSP Timfon John, the Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command made this disclosure through an official statement released on Wednesday in Uyo.

‎The statement revealed that credible policing intelligence led to the apprehension of the monarch on Tuesday.

‎The statement also revealed that CP Baba Mohammed Azare, the state commissioner of Police approved a sweeping operation that led to the arrest and confiscation of arms.

‎“Acting on the directive, detectives stormed the suspect’s residence on March 24, 2026, at about 10:15 a.m. During the operation, one AK-47 rifle and two empty magazines were recovered, and the suspect was arrested without incident,”

‎The police have reported that the suspect is presently in custody. Investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the firearm, determine his motives, and identify any potential accomplices for prosecution.
