A 57-man gang terrorising Yola, the state capital of Adamawa state has been rounded up by the Adamawa Command of the Nigerian Police Force.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the public relations officer of the state command made this disclosure in an official statement released on Tuesday.
“In continuation of the command’s efforts to rid communities of criminal elements and enhance public safety, a coordinated operation was carried out in identified criminal hideouts and black spots within Jimeta and Yola Metropolises.
“Supervision yielded positive results with the arrest of fifty-seven (57) suspects for offences bordering on Shilla-related activities, public nuisance, possession of dangerous weapons, and involvement with prohibited substances.
“The Adamawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Kabir Hassan, has sustained its aggressive fight against Shilla gangsterism, drug abuse, public nuisance, and other forms of criminality across the state.
“During the operation, police operatives recovered various weapons and suspected banned substances from the suspects. The exhibits have been documented and will be tendered as evidence in court during prosecution”.
