Four vehicles and a container at a mechanic workshop on Togunde Street, Akingbade area, along Old Ife Road in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State were destroyed by an inferno on Saturday.
Moroof Akinwande, a Special Adviser to the governor of Oyo State made this disclosure in a statement released on Sunday in Ibadan.
“The Oyo State Fire Services Agency attended to a fire incident at a mechanic workshop on Togunde Street, Akingbade area, Old Ife Road, Gbagi, Ibadan.
“At exactly 21:16hrs on Saturday, June 13, 2026, we received a distress call from Mr Damola reporting a mechanic workshop on fire at the above address.
“Fire personnel, led by CFS Adekola, promptly mobilised to the scene. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a container and four vehicles at the mechanic workshop had been engulfed by fire, with thick smoke billowing from the affected vehicles and container.
“The fire was swiftly contained by personnel of the state Fire Service, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties. Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was caused by sparks from an engine compartment, which ignited combustible materials.
“No casualty was recorded. The firefighting operation was jointly carried out with the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command.”
On a positive note, the statement stated that there was no life lost in the inferno.
