Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the executive governor of Benue State has mourned the demise of Col. Joseph Akaagerger (retd.), a former Military Governor of Katsina State.
Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor made this disclosure in a statement released in Makurdi on Thursday.
Kula stated that the former military governor died on Thursday, May 15, at the age of 69.
he said the governor expressed sadness at the sudden death of former lawmaker representing Benue North-East Senatorial District (Zone A).
The governor described the former statement as a patriot who gave his best for Benue State and Nigeria as a whole during the course of his lifetime.
The statement added, “As a lawmaker and Senator, the late Akaagerger equally proved his quality in politics, business, community service and philanthropy.
“The State would miss his contributions, particularly his counsel and engagements as an elder statesman and prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Benue.”
The governor prayed for the consolation of the soul of the members of his immediate family, his associates, and the the people of Benue state. He prayed that God will grant the late elder statesman eternal rest.
