Raheem Sterling has praised his Manchester City team-mates after he was named in Uefa’s Champions League ‘Team of the Group Stage’.
The former Liverpool winger joined City in a £49 million deal in the summer, and has since made six appearances in Europe’s premier club competition.
Sterling has scored three goals in that time, netting twice against Borussia Monchengladbach and once against Sevilla, while also laying on an assist against the Bundesliga side.
The 21-year-old has subsequently been named in the best XI of the initial stage, along with fellow Premier League forward Willian, and has expressed his joy at having his form recognised, while also lauding the form of his team-mates.
“Privileged to be named in the Team of the group stages of Champions League,” he wrote on Instagram. “I couldn’t have done this without my team mates #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork.”
