POLICE RECOVER ARM FROM SUSPECTED CULTIST IN LAGOS

A suspected cultist in possession of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police Force during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area of Lagos.

‎According to a statement released by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer on Saturday, officers intercepted a motorcycle conveying three passengers when the suspect, identified as Yusuf Lamina Adigun, 27, was found in possession of the weapon.

‎“During the search, one of the passengers, Yusuf Lamina Adigun, a 27-year-old male, was found in possession of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge.

‎“During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He further disclosed that he and other members of the cult group, who are currently at large, were on a mission to launch an attack on some individuals before they were intercepted by the Police.”

‎“The suspect is currently in Police custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the criminal group and recover additional weapons that may be in their possession.
