The Ondo State Police Command has imposed a vehicular movement restriction in line with preparations for Saturday’s by-election in Ondo South Senatorial District of the State.

‎DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s spokesperson made this disclosure in a statement posted on Friday. He noted that this movement is in tandem with the command’s security plans for the election.

‎“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, particularly residents of the Ondo South Senatorial District, that there will be a restriction of vehicular movement from 0600hrs to 1800hrs on Saturday, 20th June, 2026, in line with security arrangements put in place for the conduct of the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election.

‎“This measure is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process, as well as safeguarding the lives and property of all residents throughout the election period.

‎“All forms of vehicular movement and transportation on waterways within the affected areas of the senatorial district will be restricted during the stated period, except for essential services such as accredited officials of INEC, election observers, duly accredited journalists, emergency service providers, and other individuals specifically authorised by law to perform election-related duties.

‎“Security operatives will maintain strict surveillance across land and waterways to prevent any unauthorised movement capable of compromising the electoral process.

‎“Security agencies have been directed to enforce the restriction professionally and decisively, while ensuring respect for the rights of law-abiding citizens.
