A suspected gunrunner has been apprehended by Joint Military Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) with several arms and ammunition recovered in Plateau State.
Ishaya Musa, the suspected gun-runner was apprehended on November 14 at the Jebbu Bassa Bypass checkpoint in Bassa Local Government.
Major Samson Zhakom, the Spokesman for the Military Task Force who disclosed the arrest through an official statement released on Saturday explained that weapons including six fabricated single-barrel rifles, two fabricated revolver rifles, one Dane gun, one expended cartridge, and other sundry items were recovered from the suspect.
“The suspect and recovered items are in custody for further action,” the statement said.
“This operation highlights the unwavering commitment of JTF OPEP to protecting law-abiding citizens, preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons, and maintaining peace and stability within the Joint Operations Area,” the statement added.
The military implored the public to remain vigilant and provide useful and expeditious information to security agencies, especially as the harvest and yuletide season approaches.
