The Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Ondo West has taken a bold step to support young people by helping two brilliant minds secure scholarships to study in Sweden. This move is part of their “Youth Emancipation” plan to open doors of opportunity for young people in Ondo Kingdom.
The journey started with a mentorship group of eight young people from Ondo East and West. They were taught how to apply for international scholarships and present their ideas properly. Out of the group, two were selected for scholarships at Malmö University, Sweden.
Akindiose Racheal was awarded the fully funded Swedish Institute Women in STEM Scholarship. Her scholarship covers both tuition and monthly allowance, worth over $50,000. She’ll be studying Biomedical Surface Science.
Fadoju Abimbola also got an 80% scholarship directly from Malmö University, valued at over $30,000. Both of them will resume their Master’s programs this August.
YPP says this is just the beginning. The party is already working on other youth empowerment projects like Cybersecurity training and setting up a tech hub in Ondo to help young people learn valuable digital skills.
At a time when many young people are facing challenges like unemployment, lack of access to quality education, and limited international exposure, this move by YPP shows what’s possible when politics focuses on people and not just power.
