Officers of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority have arrested a security personnel working at a phone and accessories store for dumping waste and refuse on the road along Akowonjo road.
Mr Tokunbo Wahab, the commission for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos state announced this in a video posted on X on Sunday.
His caption read, “Recently, an individual identified as Andy, a security personnel employed by Slot Phones and Accessories at No.39 Sasha Road, Akowonjo, Egbeda, was observed illegally dumping refuse at the road median along Akowonjo Road.
“Investigations at the business premises confirmed the presence of a waste storage facility; however, no valid justification was provided for the improper disposal of waste at the road median.”
Mr Wahab explained that the manager of the facility claimed that the company is subscribed to a private sector waste collection agency. However, they were unable to provide evidence of payment to the PSP operator.
The commissioner makes it known that the apprehended security guard is been prosecuted by the agency in line with relevant laws and regulations of the Lagos State Government.
