Ayo Omidiran, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission has pledged the commission’s dedication to the entrenchment of the virtues of equity, fairness and justice in the implementation of the Federal Character principle.
She made this disclosure on Monday after she resumed as the chair of the commission. She declared that her leadership would focus on enhancing institutional strength, transparency, and accountability in fulfilling the Commission’s constitutional duties.
“The mandate of the Federal Character Commission is central to inclusive governance and national cohesion, and under my leadership, we will pursue it with renewed vigour, fairness and integrity,” she said.
“The Federal Character principle exists to address historical imbalances and ensure that Nigeria’s diversity is harnessed as a source of strength rather than division,” Omidiran stated.
“We will deepen engagement with MDAs to ensure strict compliance with the Federal Character principle and promote inclusiveness in public sector decision-making,” Omidiran said.
“This strategic plan will drive far-reaching institutional reforms, improve staff capacity and professionalism, accelerate digital transformation, and strengthen inter-agency cooperation,”
“We are leveraging digital tools to strengthen monitoring and compliance, while investing in our workforce to ensure they are equipped for the demands of a rapidly evolving governance environment,” she noted.
“Fair representation and equitable distribution of opportunities are essential to building trust in public institutions and strengthening the fabric of the Nigerian state,” he said.
“We will discharge our duties with humility, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that equity is not just articulated in policy statements, but consistently reflected in governance outcomes,” Omidiran assured.
