WE ARE NOT THREATENED BY NO-WORK-NO-PAY POLICY— UNIJOS ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Jos branch has complied with the two week national strike that commenced today.

 

The union’s national secretariat had given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to meet its demands, which include improved funding, better working conditions, and payment of earned allowances, among others.

 

Newsmen who visited the university campus observed that lecturers of the varsity stayed away from work in full compliance with the directives of the national secretariat of the union.

 

Prof. Jurbe Molwus, the chairman of the ASUU branch at UNIJOS disclosed that the lectures are in full compliance with the directive.

 

“We are complying one hundred percent with the warning strike at UNIJOS,” Prof. Molwus said.

 

“The Federal Government has been threatening us with ‘no work no pay,’ but we are not going to back down; we are not afraid. We will continue to comply until our demands are met by the government.”

 

“It is expected to continue for the next two weeks unless the Federal Government meets the union’s demands.”
