Suicide: Teenager Kills Self in Gombe

Tragedy struck in Kaltungo, Gombe State, as a 16-year-old girl, Maryam Samuel, was found dead after allegedly taking her own life by hanging.

 

Confirming the incident on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Gombe State Police Command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the teenager was discovered hanging from a tree at Kalarin Mountain.

 

“On March 14, 2025, at about 9 am, a case of suicide was reported at Kaltungo Divisional Headquarters.

 

“The deceased, Maryam Samuel, a 16-year-old girl from Kalarin Ward, was found hanging with a rope on a tree,” Abdullahi stated.

 

 

He noted that there were no signs of violence on the body, which was later moved to the General Hospital, Kaltungo.

 

According to preliminary investigations, Samuel had left home on March 13 to fetch firewood from a nearby bush but never returned.

 

Abdullahi added, “Family members were invited, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.”
