Ahmed Aliyu, the executive Governor of Sokoto State has disclosed that plans are well underway to ensure dedication and punctuality in a bid to improve productivity and instill discipline in the state civil service.
This planswas unveiled by the Governor during a Sallah homage visit at the Government House by state workers, led by the Head of Service, Abdulkadir Ahmed.
Aliyu disclosed that a committee will soon be established to formulate criteria for identifying and rewarding diligent employees. He noted that this initiative was prompted by concerns regarding prevalent tardiness and absenteeism..
“We will not only sanction indiscipline, but we will also recognise and reward those who are punctual, dedicated, and committed to their duties. Hard work and discipline must be encouraged if we are to build an efficient civil service.
“We are aware that some workers come to work whenever they want and close anytime they wish, while some do not even report to work at all,” he added.
While encouraging workers that utmost premium would be placed on their welfare and improved standard of service, he also warned that his administration would no longer tolerate indiscipline and inefficiency.
