The executive governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu has congratulated Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on his victory at the Supreme Court as the duly elected governor of Edo State.
Abubakar Bawa, the Chief press secretary to Governor Aliyu noted that the governor described the victory as a triumph of democracy and the affirmation of the independence of the Nigerian judiciary.
The Supreme Court, on Thursday, dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenging the outcome of the 2024 governorship election in Edo State, citing a lack of merit.
Governor Aliyu noted that the victory at the Supreme Court is for all Nigerians who believe in the sanctity of the ballot and the rule of law and not just Governor Okpebholo and the All Progressives Congress.
“On behalf of the good people of Sokoto State, I congratulate my colleague and brother, Governor Monday Okpebholo, on this well-deserved victory. This is a victory for the entire APC family and for all well-meaning Nigerians”, Aliyu stated.
