The political atmosphere in Rivers State was thickened as the Legislative rerun elections took place today.
Following several reported cases of irregularities and violence that trailed the rerun election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended elections in Six (6) Local Government Areas and they include, Bonny LGA, Gokana LGA, Eleme , Tai LGA, Andoni LGA and Abua/Odua LGA.
According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Rivers State, Mr. Aneidi Ikoiwak, the suspension of election in those LGAs was as a result of various unrests which started after party agents attacked INEC officials in their areas.
