Abike Dabiri-Erewa, The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has called on embassies and consulates to stop the practice of withholding passports of visa applicants for too long.

‎Dabiri-Erewa expressed her comments in response to a post on X by social media personality Japheth Omojuwa, who had voiced concerns regarding the practice.

‎The X user, Japhet Omojuwa had raised alarm over the ugly incident without making particular references to any embassy.

‎According to Omojuwa, “If, as an embassy, you can’t make a decision one way or another after two weeks, return people’s passports… It’s not a life and death issue,”

‎While reacting to the post made by Omojuwa, the NIDCOM chair wrote, “I agree with you absolutely. And if applications should be rejected, the funds should be refunded! Or at least, a percentage should be refunded.”
