Police Seal OSSIEC Headquarters

The chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr Hashim Abioye has alleged that men of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested several staff of the commission while on electoral duties in the state on Saturday.

This claim was published by Mr Abioye on the official X page of the commission on Saturday.

Mr Hashim Abioye made particular appeal to the members of the media community for the inability of the commission to provide accreditation materials while also commending the electorates for coming out en-masse to exercise their right.

He said the hitch experienced was as a result of the fact that the police sealed off the OSSIEC headquarters were the material were kept.

He said, “Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested staff of the commission who are on election duty across the state.

“For the units where material didn’t arrive early, it was due to Police arrest of the officials conveying the materials. However, new materials have been deployed, and voting is now ongoing.”
