Police Interrogate Officers Filmed Manhandling Civilians

The Abia State police command has commenced investigation into a viral video posted on Facebook showing men of the force allegedly manhandling a civilian.

 

The incidence was said to have taken place at Lagos street, Umuahia on February 20 and the recorded clip quickly gained traction on social media

 

The spokesperson of the police command, DSP Maureen Chinaka in a statement released on Friday, the officers involved in the manhandling episode have been identified and are currently undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Umuahia.

 

The statement read, “The Abia State Police Command is aware of a trending video on Facebook depicting some police officers manhandling a civilian. The incident is alleged to have occurred along Lagos Street, Umuahia on 20/02/2025.

 

“The officers involved have been identified, and are currently under interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

 

“The public will be updated after necessary administrative actions are taken against the erring officers.”
