The Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy and theft of motorcycles in different parts of the state.
This was contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, on Wednesday .
According to the statement, on October 3, 2025, at about 9 p.m., a complaint was received that 23-year-old Michael Isah, of the BYJ area, Kwamba, ran away with his friend’s motorcycle with registration number ABJ 402 MV, valued at over one million naira.
“On 3rd October, 2025 at about 9pm, a direct complaint was received that one Micheal Isah 23yrs of BYJ area of Kwamba ran away with his friend TBS motorcycle with Reg. No. ABJ 402 MV valued over a million naira,” Abiodun said.
It stated that police operatives attached to Maje Division were immediately placed on alert and, on October 4, 2025, at about 11:30 a.m., found the motorcycle with one Abubakar Sadiq Mutawakil of Kwamba, who was trying to get a buyer for it.
“Fortunately, on 4th October, 2025 at about 11.30am, the said motorcycle was found with one Abubakar Sadiq Mutawakil of Kwamba, making efforts to get a buyer for the motorcycle, and he was immediately arrested and confessed to the crime.
“He also led the operatives to arrest Micheal Isah who gave the motorcycle to him for disposal,” Abiodun said.
The statement noted that the suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime, leading to the arrest of Michael Isah, who had given him the motorcycle to dispose of.
It added that earlier on October 2, 2025, at about 4:30 p.m., operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Bida, intercepted and arrested 23-year-old Adamu Mohammed, of the Masaba area, Bida, with a TVS motorcycle bearing registration number GWA 346 VZ, suspected to have been stolen.
“During interrogation, he confessed that he stole the motorcycle from Ndasako village of Wushishi LGA.
“The owner of the motorcycle was later contacted and confirmed the theft, while the suspect was charged to court for prosecution,” the statement partly read.
Similarly, on the same date, at about 8 a.m., police operatives attached to Katcha Division arrested one Abubakar Mohammed of Gudungu village via Agaie with an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle without a key.
The statement continued, “During interrogation, he confessed that he stole the motorcycle from Cheche village via Katcha, but he was arrested along Agaie-Katcha road. The suspect is under investigation.”
Abiodun said all suspects would be prosecuted accordingly after investigation.
