by Adeyinka Adetan

The Plateau State Christian Welfare Board has declared that approximately 466 pilgrims are scheduled to depart for Israel on March 5, 2026, as part of the second batch.

‎Wanson Bagu, The Executive Secretary of the board made this disclosure in an interview with journalist on Thursday in Jos.

‎The Executive Secretary stated that the mobilisation began in November and December last year, with 1,120 pilgrims proposed, including 13 carried over from the previous year.

‎According to him, 800 intending pilgrims have been screened, while the first batch of 295 is currently in Israel.

‎“We commenced mobilisation last year, around November and December, and the actual screening was done this year. We had proposed about 1,100 pilgrims for this exercise, though there was a leftover of 13 from last year.

‎“So we have nearly put together about 1,120 pilgrims. We have screened about 800; some others are yet to be screened. Presently, the first batch is in Israel. We had proposed 300 pilgrims for the first batch, but the actual number that went was 295.

‎“We have submitted a list for the second batch, departing on March 5, 2026, which comprises 466 pilgrims. For the third batch, we plan to send not less than 350 pilgrims, though the date for this batch is yet to be fixed. These are our plans for the movement of pilgrims to the Holy Land.”
