Dapo Abiodun, the executive governor of Ogun State has disclosed that the Tai Solarin road in Ikenne has been completed. He explained that the project highlights his commitment to stimulate economic growth and better the living conditions of residents.
The governor made this disclosure through a post on his X handle on Monday where he said that the road has reached a remarkable level of completion.
“We remain committed to restoring roads that directly touch the lives of our people and strengthen local economies across Ogun State,” the governor said. “Tai Solarin Road in Ikenne Town is one of such roads, and today, it is gratifying to see it reach practical completion under our administration.”
“For a very long time, this road was in a terrible condition due to years of neglect. It became almost impassable, disrupting movement and hurting commercial activities in the area,”
“Today, Tai Solarin Road has been restored as a major catalyst for economic activities in the town. Residents now move with ease, businesses are returning, and even when the expressway is congested, this road serves as a dependable alternative route,”
“Ikenne is a town of rich heritage and national pride. It is home to Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Tai Solarin, a former Vice President of Nigeria, and several other notable Nigerians,” he said. “It is also home to the famous Mayflower School, and the rehabilitation of this road will now provide easier, safer access to the school and the surrounding communities.”
“We know how bad this road used to be. People were afraid to stop or trade here. But now, the story has changed. The market is alive again. People can park, stop, and buy and sell without fear.”
“We thank God for this progress, and we remain resolute in delivering infrastructure that improves daily life and creates opportunities for our people,”
