NINE DIE IN KASTINA ROAD CRASH

A fatal car accident that occurred along the Malumfashi-Kafur Road in Katsina State on Sunday has reportedly claimed Nine (9) lives.

Aliyu Ma’aji, the Sector Commander of the Kastina State Command od the Federal Road Safety Corp, described the accident as a lone accident involving a Hummer bus carrying a total of Twenty (20) passengers in total.

Ma’aji said, “Nine passengers died on the spot, while 11 others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.”

Preliminary investigations attributed the crash to “speeding and loss of control.”

Ma’aji called on drivers, motorists, and road users to exercise caution while driving and refrain from over-speeding, over-loading, and reckless driving especially during festive periods.

He emphasized that “despite the state government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure, reckless driving remains a major cause of fatal accidents in Katsina.”
