‎KATSINA STATE GOVERNMENT UNDERTAKES FREE EYE SURGERIES 

‎No fewer than 1,000 less-privileged patients have benefitted from the free eye surgeries conducted by the Katsina State Government through support from the Darrul Imara Charity Foundation and Endowment, Kano.

‎Hauwa Isha, the Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Health noted that the event was the second in the series. Se made this disclosure through an official statement released on Sunday in Katsina.

‎She stated that the exercise was successfully conducted at the Old Market Eye Hospital in Katsina from February 7 to 11, 2026.

‎She further explained, “All medical procedures were completed successfully without any complications.

‎“However, the Commissioner for Health, Hamza Suleiman-Funtua, has received a complaint on social media, in which an individual alleged that some hospital staff engaged in inappropriate conduct during the exercise.

‎“In response, the ministry had established an investigative committee under the leadership of the Permanent Secretary, Dr Lawal Aliyu-Rabe, to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action.”

‎She said that the ministry assured the public that the investigation would be conducted with fairness and transparency while also ensuring that the integrity of the ministry is preserved.
