An inferno has reported destroyed products running into several millions at a storage facility located at Oyo town in Oyo State.
According to Mr Yinka Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire service in a statement released on Sunday, the fire incidence occurred on Saturday at Olanlokun Junction, Obabi Street, Old Cele area.
He noted that the distress call with regards to the fire incidence came in at 10:39 am and fire fighters arrived the scene promptly at 10:45 am.
“On getting there, the crew met heaps of local herbs within the premises of a residential building being used to store different types of local herbs, engulfed by fire.
“We swiftly commenced firefighting operations and were able to curtail it from spreading to the main building and the nearby buildings.
“The properties worth several millions of naira were saved by the officers of the agency,” he said.
According to him, the operation lasted for three hours before the fire could be brought under control due to the large stockpile of herbs.
