‎HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE CONFERRED ON CROSS RIVER GOVERNOR

Senator Bassey Otu, the executive Governor of Cross River state has been conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) by Modibbo Adama University, Yola.

‎The university joyfully announced that the honor was awarded during its combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies. This decision came after the collective approval of the University Senate and Governing Council. It’s a lovely recognition of his significant contributions to governance, public service, and humanitarian development.

‎According to Prof. Ibrahim Umar, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, the award is “a unanimous academic salute to a life of service defined by integrity, inclusion and measurable societal impact.”

‎“This honour is reserved for leaders whose influence transcends office and geography, touching lives and strengthening institutions,” he said.

‎“His approach to power has been guided by compassion and conscience. Governor Otu has consistently demonstrated that governance is not merely about authority, but about responsibility to humanity,” he said

‎“He is a bridge-builder in public life, a leader whose governance prioritises inclusion, institutional strengthening and sustainable development,” Prof. Umar said
