Governor Aiyedatiwa Forms Agriculture and Food Security Committee

In a bid to address the escalating costs of food items and improve agricultural development to guarantee food security within Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the establishment of the “Agriculture and Food Security Committee.”

Members of the committee are:

1. Mr. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola – Chairman
2. Rev. Gideon Oluleye – Vice Chairman
3. Mr. Abayomi Monilari – Member
4. Mr. Obaweya Gbenga – Member
5. Mr. Fabiyi Omolade – Member
6. Prof. Adefolakemi Gabriel-Ajobiewe – Member
7. Chief Abiodun Adejo – Member
8. Mr. Gbenga Akingbasote – Member/Secretary
9. Mrs. F.O Tunde-Daramola – Member/Co-Secretary
10. Mrs. Tayo Ogundare – Secretariat Staff

The committee has swiftly embarked on its outlined tasks, which include advising on immediate and sustainable measures to mitigate the surging costs of foodstuffs. Furthermore, it aims to strategically engage all pertinent stakeholders in the agricultural and food sector to devise a comprehensive long-term food security blueprint for the State.

Additionally, the Ondo State Executive Council recently approved a budgetary allocation of N3.47 billion as counterpart funds for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). This initiative aims to upgrade numerous feeder roads to asphalt standards, thereby linking rural communities to urban centers and fostering economic growth within the State through agriculture.
