An inferno has been reported to have razed a four-bedroom apartment located at No. 1 Happiness Close, Akufo Estate, Elebu area of Ibadan in the early hours of Monday.
This disclosure was made by Mr Yemi Adeyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency in Ibadan on Monday.
Mr Adeyinka explained that the agency responded promptly to a distress call by deploying a team to the scene of the fire incident at exactly 1:13am.
“The firemen swiftly swung into action and were able to curtail the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.
“The fire officers were also able to rescue the family from the building, and no casualty was recorded,” the general manager said.
Akinyinka attributed the cause of the fire incident to overheating of a solar panel installed in the building, which caught fire and ignited nearby combustible materials.
