A joint team of security operatives comprising officers and men of the Department of State Security and the Nigerian Police gained entrance in the premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly in the early hours of Monday.
It was reported that the armed security team took over the premises and its environs at Alause, Ikeja.
However, the speaker of the house, Hon. Mojisola Meranda arrived the complex with her convoy around 11:50am.
After the arrival of the speaker and her convoy, members of the house expressed profound confidence in her leadership of the house as they settle for plenary.
The former speaker of the house, Mudasiru Obasa was removed by 35 members of the house out of 40 members that make up the Lagos state house of assembly on January 13th, 2025 while he was away in the United States of America.
The situation has snowballed into significant controversy with the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex political decision-making body within the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Lagos state.
