Dr. Babajide, The Oluoke of Okeigbo, Laid to Rest

The late His Imperial Majesty Oba Dr. Oluwole Babajide was laid to rest on Saturday, July 20, 2023, at the historic town of Okeigbo, Ondo State,south-west Nigeria after a funeral service attended by dignitaries. He joined his ancestors early this year.

At the time of his passing in April 2023, the father of the new Okeigbo, as he was affectionately called was 92 years on earth and had ascended the throne of his forefathers in 2018.

Hon. Alex Omojadegbe, media director,Oluoke in council, confirmed the burial of the monarch to the public.

A large crowd of Okeigbo indigenes and people from neighbouring towns flocked to the palace to witness the burial.

Reacting to the death of the traditional ruler, the Regent of Okeigbo and daughter of the late monarch, Princess Olusola Babajide declared that his death was a huge loss to mankind and she further described him as a great orator, fabolous writer and the people’s person.

Professor Tony Akintomide of the department of medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, described Oba Babajide as a great man, a man of many parts,a wise one, a fashionista in his own right whose dressing was always on point with matching shoes, a humorous and highly intelligent man, and a mentor of many.

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Founder and Senior Pastor of Trinity House, is another prominent person who has saluted the late Oluoke, whom he said was a loving, humble, charming, accessible, caring, and hardworking man.

He will be greatly missed.
