There was fear among friends, family and political associates of the immediate past Minster of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Thursday as rumours emerged that the ailing minister had died on Thursday in United Kingdom.
The Rumour was heightened by the fact that Alison-Madueke is being treated for cancer in the United Kingdom, with many reports on social media claiming she’s dead.
However, her lawyer, Mr. Oscar Onwudiwe, debunked the rumour of the former Minister’s death.
The United Kingdom National Crime Agency had in October 2 arrested the former minister over allegation of corruption and released her on bail
Meanwhile, a human rights activist and Executive Director, Women’s Consortium of Nigeria, Mrs. Olabisi Olateru-Olagbegi, died of cancer on Wednesday at the age of 62.
The President of Women Arise and Campaign for Democracy, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, in a series of tweets on her Twitter handle on Thursday, expressed shock over her death.
