CROSS RIVER HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY EXTENDS LG CHAIR’S SUSPENSION OVER MISCONDUCT

The suspension of Theresa Ushie, the Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area by the the Cross River State House of Assembly has extended by another three months.

 

Her initial suspension which was announced in June on the basis of all edged misconduct was sequel to an impeachment notice signed by eight members of the Bekwarra Legislative Council.

 

The House then mandated its committee on Judiciary, Public Matters, and Public Petitions to carry out a thorough investigation of the matter.

 

The extension was approved after a motion moved by  the member representing Obubra I State Constituency, Ovat Ogbor, and seconded by Francis Ogban of Biase State Constituency during plenary in Calabar on Tuesday.

 

Davies Eta, the chairman of the House committee on Judiciary, Public Matters, and Public Petitions explained that the extension was to allow the committee complete its investigative works and submit a comprehensive report to the House.
